Checking stick drift means measuring idle offset while your thumbs are off the sticks. Open the Stick Drift Test on a desktop browser, connect the pad (USB preferred), press any button to wake detection, then rest the controller on a flat surface.
What to watch
Healthy idle magnitude stays near zero with only tiny noise. Repeated elevated idle on one stick is a strong hardware signal. Matching elevated idle on both sticks can still be wear, but also check desk vibration and a flaky Bluetooth link. Retest over USB before you decide the sensors are dead.
Games filter stick values with deadzones and aim assist, so a browser idle sample is clearer than “it feels off in ranked.” Write down left and right max idle, average idle, browser name, and whether you used USB or Bluetooth.
After you confirm drift
- Blow out debris carefully. Avoid soaking modules with liquids.
- Try another cable or port to rule out connection noise.
