Only genuine Sony controllers. Aftermarket clones and “compatible” pads almost never expose the factory calibration path.
Gamepad Tester Pro currently accepts:
- DualShock 4
- DualSense
- DualSense Edge (with extra notes below)
- PS VR2 Sense controllers (limited / experimental)
Advanced stick shaping and the quick smoke-test panel are DualSense / Edge only.
Edge note: each stick module blocks permanent writes until write-protect is lifted in hardware. That means a careful solder or probe job on both modules, thin wire so the shell still closes, and no shorts to ground. Photos for common joint locations: location A, location B, shell fit.
Chrome or Edge opens a direct USB WebHID session with the pad. Gamepad Tester Pro then issues the same class of factory calibration messages used when sticks are aligned on the production line.
You can re-sample idle center, map full travel, preview the result live, and — only if you choose — commit those numbers into the controller’s non-volatile memory.

For DualShock 4, Gamepad Tester Pro can flag many clones. Fakes often mimic normal gameplay reports but skip undocumented calibration commands, so Connect or calibrate will fail anyway.
DualSense authenticity checks are thinner. If the pad will not connect or calibrate, treat it as unsupported and stop — do not keep retrying permanent saves.
Before you commit: unplug the USB cable. Temporary session values disappear and the last committed map returns. Always preview before writing.
After you commit on DualSense or Edge: open Restore previous, pick a snapshot, then apply it. If the list looks empty, reboot the pad once and open Restore again.
Snapshots sit in this browser’s local storage on this PC. Clearing site data, switching browsers, or using private mode can erase them forever.

No. Drift is a physical problem — grit, worn potentiometers, weak springs, or failing modules.
Software mapping cannot rebuild those parts. At best you mask the symptom briefly; at worst idle output gets more chaotic and harder to reverse.
Best practice: confirm wear with Gamepad Tester Pro Stick Drift Test, replace the hardware, then return here to align the new sticks.
Almost always the Done step was pressed before a full gate sweep finished.
Slowly roll both sticks along the rim — clockwise and counter-clockwise — until the progress cue finishes, then confirm. If corners still spike, repeat range capture and do not save until the live plot looks sane.
Fine-tune only appears for DualSense and DualSense Edge.
Pick a stick, leave it at rest, nudge center with the D-pad, then hold each cardinal direction and adjust until cyan sectors show after you circle both ways. After one full rotation you can raise all directions evenly with the range control.

Preview-only steps are low risk. The short permanent-write window is the danger zone: if USB power drops while the battery is dead or missing, the pad can brick.
Keep a charged battery installed, use a firm USB cable, and never yank the plug during Save permanently.
Most stock DualSense pads land near mid–high single-digit circularity error (roughly 7–9%) with even overshoot. Razor-perfect circles can feel sticky in some shooters.
Prefer a balanced shape over chasing one magic number. Trust the circularity view when left and right look even.

Unlike the Gamepad API tools elsewhere on the site, it can send factory-style center and range commands over a desktop Chrome or Edge session, preview the map live, fine-tune DualSense circularity, run quick hardware smoke checks, and optionally write values into the pad’s non-volatile memory. It is built for post-repair alignment after you replace pots or modules—not as a magic fix for worn stick drift.
Google and players often confuse browser “calibration” previews with permanent DualSense NVS writes. Here the distinction is explicit: temporary session changes disappear if you unplug before saving; permanent save is a short, higher-risk window that needs a charged battery and a secure USB cable. Gamepad Tester Pro is not affiliated with Sony or PlayStation.
How should you run a safe DualShock / DualSense session?
- Use a desktop Chromium browser with WebHID, not a phone or tablet.
- Connect an official pad by USB and keep the internal battery charged and seated.
- Recenter sticks, capture range with slow gate circles, then inspect the live plot.
- On DualSense, fine-tune only after center and range look balanced (roughly mid–high single-digit circularity error with even overshoot).
- Test temporary results thoroughly before tapping permanent save.

FAQ: can this page repair stick drift by itself?
No. Drift is mechanical wear, dirt, or failing modules. Writing new calibration on a drifting stick can feel better briefly and then make aim worse with no clean undo. Replace the hardware first, then use this WebHID flow to align the replacement.
FAQ: when should you avoid permanent save?
Skip permanent write if the battery is dead or disconnected, the USB cable is loose, the live plot still spikes into corners after a rushed range capture, or you have not verified temporary results. Power loss mid-write is the main bricking risk. Prefer preview, reboot, and re-check over hasty commits.
