Visualize how center gates change aim feel
A deadzone is the radius around stick center where games treat input as zero. Manufacturers and titles use it to hide sensor noise, but a large gate also softens small corrections. This Deadzone tool compares raw magnitude against a virtual gated output so you can feel the tradeoff without installing extra software. Pair it with Stick Drift when idle offset is already confirmed.
Nothing on this page writes to DualSense NVS, Xbox firmware, or Steam configs. The Gamepad API only exposes live axes; the gate you adjust is a visualization layer inside the browser. That limit is intentional: permanent remaps belong in games or vendor tools, not in a public tester.
When a bigger deadzone is a clue
If you need an unusually wide gate just to stop creep, hardware wear is likely. Document the magnitude on Stick Drift, try a different cable, then decide on cleaning or module replacement. Mild noise that disappears with a modest gate may be acceptable for casual play.

FAQ: is deadzone the same as calibration?
No. Calibration tries to redefine center or range in firmware or drivers. A deadzone simply ignores a band around center. Confusing the two leads people to expect permanent fixes from browser pages that only plot numbers.
